With Microsoft’s Xbox 360 launch date getting closer, CoolTechZone takes a look at the current state of the gaming industry and other consoles [Nintendo Revolution, PlayStation 3] to see what they are up to:
Sony’s PS3 is definitely keeping everyone guessing in regards to the launch date.. ..Sony’s strategy is to wait, watch and learn from Microsoft’s Xbox 360 release, and depending on its success (or failure), Sony will decide on the official launch date. It’s a great strategy, but if the Xbox 360 takes off, Sony will be positively behind and will miss out on all the gamers who are looking to upgrade during the Holiday Season. With all of the game titles available for the Xbox 360 right after its debut, this strategy could very well backfire on Sony.
The Nintendo Revolution is my personal favorite. It is also perhaps severely underrated and most people discussing the console market these days don’t even bother to think about it. This is primarily due to the fact that we just don’t know where everything stands with it right now. The specifications are unavailable, officially anyway. The leaked specifications are no match for those of the Xbox 360 or the PS3, and Nintendo’s idea of targeting to the younger demographics aren’t particularly exciting. However, when Nintendo says "Revolution", it’s not talking about hardware but more about "how" we play games in general.
