Foxconn Winfast NF4UK8AA-8EKRS (NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra) Motherboard Review

Foxconn has been increasing their presence in the Mainboard Market recently, particularly with AMD designs. Now they have produced a product based on the NF4 Ultra Chipset, bringing PCI-E support to the AMD64 939 arena. This board, NF4UK8AA-8EKRS supports the Socket 939 for AMD Athlon 64 processor, 4 GB DDR400, USB 2.0, PCI Express 16x, 8 ch audio, 1394, GbE LAN, NVRAID, SATA. The board also comes built in with overclocking features like voltage adjustments for VDIMM, VCORE, Vhtt. FSB is adjustable to 300MHz. Some of the most interesting features on board includes the native support of 2 IDE ports that can form a RAID array with the SATA II ports offering 300MBps. This board supports a Gigabit Ethernet port and it comes with an embedded Firewall with Active Armour.

…Winfast NF4UK8AA-8ERKS is the first NF4 Ultra board from Foxconn. This board, just like most of the other NF4 Ultra boards we tested so far implements most of the functions of the NF4 Ultra chipset. They include support up to 8 x USB 2.0 (4 rear + 4 thru’ external bracket) ports, Gigabit Ethernet with Firewall built in, 8 ch audio, 1394. It also comes with 2 IDE + 4 SATA ports for NVRAID supported by the chipset.

…Overall, if you are looking for a stable board, the Winfast NF4UK8AA is definitely a choice to be considered. Just like most boards, it only implements the older 1394a and not 1394b. A dual GbE would make the board more appealing as well.
