Four Way NVIDIA nForce4 SLI Motherboard Shootout - ASUS, DFI, Gigabyte, MSI

March 22nd 2005 | nForce4

No doubt about it these days – if you want the absolute fastest gaming setup around, you need SLI from NVIDIA’s nForce 4 chipset and its graphic cards. It seems as if all the major players of motherboard makers have jumped on the bandwagon of producing quality motherboards to harness the gaming prowess of this platform. In this review we’ll take a look at what we feel are the top-four contenders from ASUS, DFI, Gigabyte and MSI. Each one has its own twist if you will of features, performance and pricing. The contending motherboards are: DFI nF4 SLI-DR, ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe, MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI and Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI

..What can we say here? DFI absolutely kicked ass in all the benchmarks – even though we know folks will write us and call us “DFI Fan-boys” – look at the numbers, they speak volumes. It goes to show what sort of improvements the other guys can do if they spend a great deal of time tweaking their SLI implementation, aggressive RAM timings and overall board design.

DFI literally broke all the “rules” with its nF4 SLI-DR and not just in performance. They’ve completely set the bar for others in line to follow with their best-of-class bundling, listening to what its customers want and throwing it out at prices that are as good if not better.
