Hi,
My mainboard is ASUS M2N-MX[1], it seems using the current
driver listed on NVIDIA driver page (8.26) sometimes make my
XP crash after a couple days/hours (BSoD, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL)[2].
There is 2 other BSoD messages but that one is much more
common.
I think the problem exist in SATA driver because that the only
driver integrated with my XP SP3 installation disc (with nLite).
No, full memory test with memtest86+ doesn't find any error.
I remember using older driver (can't remember the version)
it was very stable, I can keep my computer turned on for more
than 1 week downloading. No BSoD, never, as far as i can
remember.
So, what do you think?

That is unfair TWL.
Personally I am of the type that believes that newer is always better. Grab the LATEST Nforce drivers from Nvidia.com that matches your chipset and Windows Version and go from there.
Remember to ALWAYS creat a Restore Point before doing such in case problems pop up. Better safe than sorry I always say. |

Actually that is quite completely false statement and 9/10 you'll find out that those are not so good sets as in here.
Creating an 'restore points' well this system has so many flaws thx to microsoft that I could say same rate to this one for one. If you download and install the normal drivers they make an restore point reading 'Point of installation of drivers' that actually is extremely bad because that single handedly kills earlier restore points you made for backup. Most ironic thing I have probably ever seen. I sure hope the 'Windows Installer v4.5' corrects this faulty restore point creation. (That means that even while your Task Scheduler is making restore points every reboot & timed daily you simply cannot use those points when you would need them the most.)
and as for what goes to my advice to follow that topic. I think 1 single topic with multible issues on same topic & yet always still updated Digitally signed WHQL drivers is more helpful than singled out issues as fresh topics to deal with as more than likely someone on the older topic already knows what's the issue.
..
This specific issue of BSOD & IRQ issue is more than likely in driver installation order and for not checking what actually got installed. 'most' correct order is 'Windows update' > 'Audio' > 'Chipset' > 'Display' > 'Rest..' and actually check (for example If you got nLite new drivers on disc) did those drivers actually install in & specially when updating the installer will 'never' update overwrite newer driver versions. So Device manager to see/update all manually wouldn't be such an bad idea in every occasion.
