| Ok i made a bad mistake just got this motherboard in today was running fine. Then stupidly updated the bios with the program in windows that came with the mobo. I now cannot even try to boot into windows, i get nothing no beeps or anything, my monitor color never changes from orange to blue. I have tried the jumper settings by removing and putting back in. I also took the battery out for a while still to no avail. Anything else i can try guys before i give up and buy a new one. any suggestions would be great. Also just remember did overclock the processor but no problems with that until i did the cmos update..... |

Have you tried doing a flash from a boot disk? Many times you can recover this way, though you will be blind as far as progress is concerned, just remember to wait a couple of minutes after the last floppy disk acitivity before you reboot.
To get the latest BIOS and the program to make a bootable floppy just go to:Biostar Downloads Page for 6100-939
Download the BIOS Flasher for legacy motherboards, the latest BIOS, and follow the instructions on the floppy.

okay I think the last poster didnt understand what was said, I too have a Biostar 1600 -939 and I have AMD 64 X2 3800 Cpu, and 256Mgb DDR vidoe PCI-E and 256 DDR PC2100 / 266Mhz mem 2 sticks of single side mem..
I also updated the bios, and tada! nothing works zippo!, but oddly enough, the blue reset light , and 2 red light are running,I also tried clearing the cmos and nothing yet has worked, and thats it, how can I restore the cmos back to factory settings?
If anyone can tell how to do this, I'm all ears. |

Oddly enought, I fixed the problem, if you unplug the power cable from the board, and wait like 10 mins and replug the power cable back in the board, and hit the blue light, it will restart.
also if your using PC2100 DDR mem please dont because this board does not like running mem this low, PC3200 DDR double Sided 400 mem, works really great.
If you have to update the bios, please understand what to do, but if you dont need to update the bios dont, it will work just fine. |
