PostPosted: Wed Mar 19, 2008 2:11 pm    Post subject: Vista/XP NF driver packs 9.64 WHQL at NVIDIA

NVIDIA has just released new nForce chipset driver packages for nForce 790 Ultra SLI and nForce 790i SLI chipsets. The packages are version 9.64 and dated 03.18.2008.
Look here

These are the components:
Code:
Ethernet Driver (v67.76) WHQL
Network Management Tools (v67.77) "Sedona"
SMBus Driver (v4.62) WHQL
Installer (v5.70)
SataRAID Driver (v9.99.09) WHQL
SataIDE Driver (v9.99.09) WHQL
RAIDTOOL Application (v9.99.09) "Sedona"
SMU Driver (v1.31) WHQL

So these packages contain brandnew nForce IDE (v9.99.0.9) and Ethernet (v67.76) drivers.

According to the associated INF files the new IDE drivers v9.99.0.9 are fully compatible with MCP51 (nForce 430/410) and MCP55 (nForce 590/570/550) chipsets.
I have just mixed and uploaded new MCP51&55 packs for Vista 32/64bit and added them into my special NF4-7 Vista packs thread.

Here are the links to the new NF chipset driver packages v9.64:
Vista x86
Vista x64
Windows XP
Windows XP x64

EDIT:
Attention: If you try to download the international version of the Vista x64 package, you will get the one for Windows XP x64!

Greets Fernando. The Ethernet only has 1 DeviceID: NVNET_DEV0373

What chipset is that for?

I don't know, but I think, that is the network adapter for nForce 790 chipset mainboards.

@NVNET_DEV0373

is on nforce 410,430,630#,680#,7x0#... Dunno what they mean by sedona, but wouldn't hit it in my system for sure..

Gonna do the usualy benchmarking..
put these ones again on test. Comparing drivers most ideal on my sense aka. Vista x64: v9.98, v10.3.0.16, v9.99.04 XP x64: v6.87, v6.99, v9.95, v10.3.0.21 see what happens.

@ all users with an nForce chipset mainboard:

Yesterday NVIDIA has released official XP and Vista nForce chipset driver packages v9.64 for users with an nForce 790 chipset mainboard.
The most interesting part of the new packages are the brandnew nForce IDE drivers v9.99.0.9, which seem to be the best of all available NVIDIA textmode drivers (look here). Unfortunately these WHQL certified drivers are only supporting MCP51, MCP55 and nForce 790 chipset mainboards.

To make these official nForce IDE drivers v9.99.0.9 usable for all NF4-7 chipset mainboard owners, I have customized their INF files, put them into new special nForce chipset packages for Vista and XP (32/64bit) and uploaded them to RapidShare.

Here are the download links to my customized Windows XP (32/64bit) packs:

special NF4-7 chipset driver pack v1.4 for Windows XP
special NF4-7 chipset driver pack v1.4 for Windows XP x64

These are the components of my special NF4-7 Windows XP (32/64) packs:
Code:
Ethernet Driver (v67.72) WHQL
SMBus Driver (v4.63) WHQL
SataRAID Driver (v9.99.09) with customized INF
SataIDE Driver (v9.99.09) with customized INF
RAIDTOOL Application (v9.99.09) "Sedona"
HD Audio Driver (v1.00.00.17) WHQL
Installer (v5.70)

Here are the download links to my customized Vista (32/64bit) packs:

special NF4-7 chipset driver pack v1.4 for Vista x86
special NF4-7 chipset driver pack v1.4 for Vista x64

These are the components of my special NF4-7 Vista packages:
Code:
Ethernet Driver (v67.72) WHQL
SMBus Driver (v4.63) WHQL
SataRAID Driver (v9.99.09) with customized INF
SataIDE Driver (v9.99.09) with customized INF
RAIDTOOL Application (v9.99.09) "Sedona"
HD Audio Driver (v1.00.00.17) WHQL
SMU Driver (v1.39) WHQL
Installer (v5.70)

You may use these unofficial nForce chipset packages at own risk.

Addional informations:
  1. All nForce drivers of these packages are WHQL certified except the nForce IDE drivers, which have lost their stamp by modifying the INF files to make them usable for all NF4-7 chipsets.
  2. The rather new Ethernet drivers v67.72, which are part of these inofficial nForce chipset driver packages, are running fine with nearly all nForce chipsets, if they are installed the correct way. The running Ethernet drivers should never be just updated! You have to uninstall the previously loaded Ethernet drivers before you run the installer and decide to update the complete chipset driver package!
Tip from TwL: After the installation of the new Ethernet drivers you should verify, that the hidden device ("View" > "show hidden devices") named "Bus Enumerator" has been updated too. Otherwise the Ethernet Controller will not work. Some nForce chipset mainboards need more than 1 reboot to get the Ethernet devices (Bus Enumerator and Network Controller) completely and properly installed.
  3. Although the modified nForce IDE drivers 9.99.0.9 do support all nForce chipsets from NF4 up, you should keep in mind, that these drivers belong to a new generation of nForce S-ATA drivers with advanced AHCI features. Before you are going to install them, you should do a backup of all important files or - even better - of the whole OS partition. The safest way to get these new nForce IDE drivers installed is to do it from scratch.
Tip from TwL: If you are not planning a clean fresh install of the OS, you should roll back to the basic nForce IDE drivers of the OS before you run the package installer or trying to do a manual driver update. After the successful install of the new nForce IDE drivers you should remove all other nForce IDE drivers which may be still present within the WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS folder.

Any feedback is much appreciated (with a short information of the OS, the used package and the nForce chipset).

Have fun!
Fernando

Yes, they certainly do support AHCI, but you have to verify, if it is enabled within your BIOS.

Nevertheless I am nearly sure, that the NVIDIA nForce S-ATA Controllers of nForce 790 chipset mainboards are supporting the AHCI features.

Fernando how come you didn't include the updated Ethernet 67.74 and 67.76 in your packages?
