Hi all,

Recently bought into a Newegg deal on a Foxconn 6150BK8MC-KRSHN2 mATX S939 mainboard and matching CPU. My idea was to build a box for the upcoming Windows Home Server. I have three Seagate 7200.7 160GB SATA hard disks lying around, and the board specs claimed to support RAID 0, 1, 0+1, and RAID5.

I have the system fully assembled, and went into the RAID controller BIOS. Unlike the RAID manual, which says there should be options for Striping, Mirroring, Striping+Mirroring, and RAID5, only Striping and Mirroring show up as options. I updated the mainboard BIOS, since the revision was old, same thing (of course, it does not appear that it updated the RAID controller firmware in the process).

Does anyone have this board and can compare setup to mine? I bought it specifically because it states that it has RAID5 support, and without that, a key feature is missing. With WHS' low system requirements, I could have reused a Socket 370 Tualatin P3 and mATX board sitting here, and bought a PCI SATA RAID-5 controller instead, but this was cheaper and I had the RAM. Pretty frustrating, so if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, I'd appreciate the help.

I actually got a call back from Foxconn support after calling their California number. They provided me (via e-mail) with a BIOS not available on their website dated less than a month ago that updates the RAID controller and adds RAID 0+1 and RAID 5. Interesting that this BIOS did not appear anywhere I could see it on their website and was much newer than the one I found (the most recent I found was dated last year). RAID 5 is now working, and happily enough, the 32-bit WDM nVRAID drivers work with RC1 of Windows Home Server, so I'm installing as we speak. Thanks everyone.
