That EVO120 is a pretty heavy heatsink, I'm assuming you didn't pop off your IHS (since you don't have to to get the stepping) Taking the IHS off and putting it under a big heatsink like that is a real ballsy move.

Thanks Jotio, I think if I buy a new Mobo, I might as well go for a Core2 setup now... just trying to flog a bit more out of this setup first Smile

If I'm buying anything now, it'll be a another Opteron with a higher multiplier (maybe a 175). With a multiplier of 11 and 500Mhz memory, I'll be able to wind this up to 11x250Mhz quite comfortably, keep the HTTx at 4x and have everything apart from the CPU running WELL within spec (and a CPU at 2750Mhz), which should be pretty stable....

Good news, stable at 310x9 1.35 vCore:

*applause* my POS 0551 UPMW needs about 1.55v to do the same, and that's topless with a lapped Tuniq *kicks a pebble*

syntronyx - bit of a delay, on my rig (the EVO120), IHS is still in place... just gonna have one final fling at OC'ing this... the HS is coming off, gonna check the stepping and pop a Zalman 9700 on there and see what it's made of... failling that X2-3800's are only £20... how do they OC (once I've blown up my Opty165?)....
