|
|
|
The problem I am experiencing is the sound recorded from the USB Audio device is distorting. I have reduced levels, changed several settings, and still experience it.
I was wondering if having a sound card is required in order to use the USB Audio function to record? If not, could the M-Audio sound card I have installed be causing the distortion?
If I use the analog line-in on the M-Audio the recording is fine, no distortion. Although I would prefer to use the USB Audio to maintain a higher sound quality by keeping the signal all digital.
Recording system specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1.7Ghz
NForce2 Motherboard
512MB Dual Channel Ram
M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI
Radeon 9200SE Video Card
USB Keyboard and Mouse
Windows XP Home SP2 |

USB is not a real time interface, there's nothing in it demanding the data flowing steady. I really wouldn't bother trying to record through it.
That said, back when the beta test team was still going that was one card manufacturer that DEFINATELY caused problems. I believe they worked around them in the latest drivers but I couldn't say what all happened anymore. |

| Things I am going to try in a week or two is move to PS2 KB & Mouse and use an NEC PCI USB 2 Card to see if that makes a difference. |

| Since audio is analog either way you're going to lose quality. I highly doubt the USB device you're using has better conversion quality than the M-Audio card. |
