The SIL 3112 is obsolete by now and the last MB BIOS contains the latest drivers. It's very nice method but why would anyone go through that very risky procedure for little gain ?

well SIL3112 is not "so" obsolete as it looks ... some new mainboards (manufactured in H2 this year) uses it ... also if You going to shop for cheap SATA RAID card ... guess what chip it will contain ... :)

it's simple cheap and working SATA chip ...

sure i know there are tons better ones but it's good SI care about it :)

Sata 4266.bin

Postby stilup » Sun Dec 11, 2005 2:16 am

Hi I'm trying to update a bios with the 4266 bios update and got to the point where I have a saved hex edited 4266.bin along with CBROM and my bios loaded in directory D:E.G
Well I get to the part of the DOS prompt and in D: I type Dir and there it is showing
12/10/2005 07:50 PM <DIR> E.G
when I type E.G I get 'E.G' is not reconized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
I'm trying to get the CBROM to open.

Help please.

E.G. Dir is
Example Given Dir

Name Dir to anything you like.

It is an example
I.E. (That Is)
E.G Dir

Just my lazy typing hope you follow my drift...
Have edited my Tute to (hopefully) make it more clearer

Postby stilup » Sun Dec 11, 2005 4:56 am

OK Josh just a little more help.
So I rename my folder tank and I see it in D: when I type dir
I see it but now I need to know what to type to get there and open cbrom.

I don't have much dos experience.

The easiest way to open a dos prompt
is to use a tweak called "command prompt here"

copy the lines between this:
--------------------------------

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\CmdPrompt]
@="Command Prompt"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\CmdPrompt\command]
@="cmd.exe /K cd \"%1\""

------------------------------------
and that.

Open up Notepad
Paste it
Save it as: CPrompt.reg
Double click on it
say yes

This will allow you to right click a directory and do a
"Command Prompt Here"
Then you should be able to run cbrom
Did you put all the files in this directory?

See how that goes.

I copied and pasted as you instructed .
recieved error message that it was not able to import, needed to import bianary from registry editor.
I received help at the Abit forum on how to exactly type commands and got through it and am using the updated bios now.

I have a bios Savior and have no problems.
Thanks.

Hey, no stop!
The 4270 is for non-raid chips!

If you research the 4.2.70 you will see that it still contains the code for RAID.

The difference between the Raid and Non Raid in a PCI card is at the end of the code and it is removed when you mod the PCI Add In card file for use in the system bios.
