xp-m processors....

I've been comtemplating buying a XP-M 2500+ to replace my old 2800+ Barton. I've had it overclocked to 2.2Ghz for about 4 years without any problems and the XP-M seems like the last book i can stick under my wobbly table of a computer. I know it'll only squeeze out another 300Mhz at best, but i'd like to max out this computer before i sell it, like an old hot rod. Do these processors really hold up to the specs the sellers give them, or it it just an excuse to charge another $30???

uh seriously man? is it even worth it?

all I know is that I got a 2600M and I was able to overclock it to 2.5ghz 200mhz (400mhz) FSB 1.65v out of the box, I had to raise the voltage to 1.7v a year later becuase it went unstable but other than that its been great

I think the stepping makes a big deal, I got one of the better IHYQA? steppings

IQYHA is the best stepping.. is it worth buying though? No.. 300mhz if you get a good stepping.. otherwise maybe, maybe 200mhz. I had 2 mobile cpu's at 1 time. An AQYHA 2500+ that barely did 2400mhz @ 1.8 vcore, and a IQYHA 2600+ that did 2.5ghz at 1.7 vcore.

I guess if your bored and u really want it than its your money, but.. you would be much much better off saving the money and doing a full upgrade.

You could get a cheap Core 2 or even an AM2 dual core + ram for the money that guys wants for that mobile on ebay!

I think an upgrade to Socket AM2 or AM2+ will be a better investment for the future.

i ended up snagging a XP-m 2500+ AHQYA for $25 bucks...
got it setup at 1.65v 12x200 and it's rock solid. i'm gonna see if it'll make it to 2.5Ghz after an 8hr prime95 at current settings.

i also dropped 10C on my diode temp, went from 50C on a 2800+ to 40C on the XP-m

i guess it wasn't really worth it, but now i HAVE to sell the damned thing because i'm at the roof with it. thanks

25 bucks isn't bad for a new toy to tinker with. Have fun with it.
