....instead of the quite dead mobile computing section a section devoted to helping folks choose parts for their PC's?

A 'Help me choose/recommend' section if you will.

True, Mobile Computing section isn't that active, is it?

'Help me choose/recommend' - think of a better title and description and I might just add it. You don't think Hardware is the best place for those threads?

Well its just we've had a spate recently of "Can you tell me whats the best ******* that I can buy?" or "Is this any good?" type questions and I just feel personally they detract from the general topics as they often cover old ground. Its fine if folks actually have the hardware and need help with it but help to buy it is quite different.

I think they are an important part of the forum community and help bring in newer members etc. but maybe those questions ought to have a separate section.

Maybe just call it "Hardware Recomendations" or "Rig/Upgrade help"?

Just a thought. Smile

That's a jolly good idea, I know where to post precisely when I'm ready to upgrade and need some advice not that I don't know anyway but it's still helpful.
