Anyone have any experiences with Asrock ALiveNF7G-HDready?
Good, bad, performance, problems...

They claim a patended way of having 12½% memory performance - over what? The competition?

It's for an inexpensive mobo for a home server.
Power consumption and heat decipation is an issue.
Maybe 6-8GB needed for virtualizing.
Preferably a dualcore AMD.
Onboard non-gamespeed, non-power-hungry video needed.
Four SATA needed.
Firewire is needed.

Said board seems to match the bill.

Ohh.. and sorry I've been away so long Embarassed last PC been running too well to ditch Wink

It is a nice board.
A lot of connections, all your requests are done with it Wink
It could be used for all actual AM2 Processors even with the new Phenom X4!!

I use it with an Athlon X2 2350 Brisbane which is a 2*2,1 Ghz Proc with only 45W powerconsumption. With that 12 1/2% memory performance they mean a technology to raise the FSB of CPU and Memory. Activated on my Board the CPU is at 2,4 Ghz...

Hope I could help you Wink

Thanks Andy. So that's what the 12.5% is about, FSB.. I expect to use the dual 2.3Ghz 45watt (ADH2400IAA5DO), and se if I can reduce the scaling 150-200Mhz plus lower voltage in order to lower the power consumption.

One thing I haven't found out is Asrock docs says DDR2-800, while the cpu support list says DDR2-1000 with a range of cpu's. I really would prefer saving on the price penalty for the faster rams, although it would benefit when later upping to 6-8GB.
I possible with the 2.3Ghz cpu, I'll use a set of Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5, which is the best compromise I can have here in DK ATM.

This is for a combined server/workstaton (unix, running 24/7) seeing limited abuse, except when running VMware virtualization, for which dual 2.1Ghz or so should be just fine.

I wonder if DDR2 has the same problems DDR had with all memory slots filled, having to be used with slower command rate; hopefully not, haven't checked..

I'm usin' this board right now, with a 4600+ EE (Energy Efficient), normally 2.4Ghz, bur running at 2.7 with a 225 FSB. In all honesty, the Autoclock technology they use is good in theory, but lacking in implementation. I enabled it, and it raised my CPU to 2.43Ghz with the FSB at 202. lol Kinda sucks.

As for the memory issue, I'm currently using this board with 4 x 1GB of G.Skill PC2-6400 on vista64 and have not had one single issue. This is with a WD 80gb Sata2 Raptor, EVGA 8800gts 640, and Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty edition. For the board being a Micro it's frickin' awesome.
