Crysis is a system hog no doubt about that, so when we come across a fan community made custom config tool which allows you increase the in-game image quality and improve performance, it is definitely worth sharing.

Greetings!

For Crysis Warhead:
The PC Gamer $653 Warhead Machine

Crytek built its own machine capable of running the game "silky smooth", with "all the bells and whistles turned on". Considering that it has an 8600GT, I'll take it with a grain of salt, but Dan Stapleton confirmed in a PC Gamer Podcast thread that they absolutely did play the game on this machine, and it was running on High details.

Shuttle SG31G2S Barebone Case - $239.99
Intel Pentium E2180 2.0GHz Dual-Core CPU - $82.99
Samsung SH-S203B DVD Burner - $29.99
Hitachi Deskstar 7K160 160GB hard drive - $48.99
A-Data 2GB DDR2 SDRAM - $45.99
MSI GeForce 8600GT 512MB video card - $94.99
Vista Home Premium - $109.99

Greetings!

The test PC was a high-end system with a Core 2 Extreme QX9770, four GiByte DDR3 1333 RAM and a Geforce GTX 260.
...
After the intro there was a spectacular car chase with an included air strike. Here the memory usage increased to 2,180 MiByte. The framerate was around 35 fps and fell to 29 fps in challenging scenes. In the following scene we took a harbor on foot. Here the fps rate was round 35 pictures per second and Crysis Warhead used up to 2,190 MiByte. But you have to bear in mind that Crytek got a lot of time for optimizations. We are anxious to see the final version.

Crysis Warhead $699 PC unveiled
..
The machine, which is priced at $699 in the US, is ready for pre-order now and will ship on the same day as the game - September 16 according to BigDownload.

The PC is similar to the machine which Crytek originally specced for playing Crysis, except that this one has been used as a PC benchmark through all stages of development for Crysis Warhead.

Currently the specs for the PC include an Intel Core 2 Duo e7300 processor running at 2.66GHz along with an Nvidia 9800GT based video card (with no mention of a specific brand) and 2GB of RAM. The development team at Crytek claims that this hardware should run the game on high detail without ever dipping below 30 frames per second.

Yeah you can already preorder it. I'm tempted to snag the two games (they sell Crysis and Warhead as a pack too) but I don't really need more games atm.

Review:

Quote:
I played Warhead on a high-end machine with a quad core CPU and the latest Nvidia graphics card at high resolution (1680x1050) with all the details set to Enthusiast, which is essentially very high. It looked cutting edge and the frame rate was solid. Next, I checked the game on a slightly older PC with a two-year old 8800GTS and I was still able to crank it to Enthusiast settings and the same resolution and get solid results. Finally, I checked it out on the "$700 PC" that Crytek and EA have been touting. It really is a $700 machine built on the latest mainstream parts (the video card is a 9800GT), and I was able to play the final boss battle at the same resolution and at Enthusiast settings and get solid frame rates. I also tried it the Gamer setting, which is essentially high, and the frame rate was buttery smooth. You do lose some visual quality stepping down from Enthusiast, but even at Gamer Warhead still looks better than almost every game out there.
