hey my PC died recently so i'm forced to build a new one i'm gonna build a SN25p with a venice 3000+ and 1gb of corsair XL mem (the one with the 2-2-2-5) timings, and an Asus 128Mb 6600gt but i was hoping to salvage my old IDE hDD's now i'm not sure but will they even be able to go in the SN25P the specs say it has one IDE cable but is that for the CDROM ? also it does say it has one CDROM cable so i'm not sure what is going on. so all help would be really appretiated
thanks guys |

| It has one IDE cable with two connectors. So you can have a CDROM and a hardisk, or two harddisks (if you drop the CDROM, of cource). I suggest using SATA drives, because they are much more easier to install and fit nicely. |

| Thanks man, i just needed to know if i could at least use my 60GB IDE HDD as this is the one i use for the games and windows, the other on eis just full of stuff that dosen't matter anyway this means i can space out the build and cost as my pocket can;t take a beating of building a full PC i'm just gonna buy the shuttle, CPU, RAM and vid card to beging with other things will come latter i have changed my choice of RAM to Crucial BalistiX due it cheeper nature, although it 2-2-26 instead of 2-2-2-5 but a review on anadtech said it was very overclockable, i was just wondering if anyone had used it and if it was good? |

I've got 2GB of the twinX corsair (1gb sticks and cas 2) I wouldn't consider putting anything else in that little beastie, overclockable is okay, but the cas timings are where it is at these days.... and corsair has a sterling reputation IMHO.
The ATA cable has spots for 2, that is correct. The case at a stretch could accomodate 4 hdd's (provided you used both brackets and didn't have a FDD) so that is the best i've seen in a shuttle system thus far (just saving pennies for more myself... I wouldn't recommend more than one raptor in there either or it's liable to get toasty)
And if you can, don't do the shuttle the injustice of the 60gb hdd, see if you can get another hdd (200gb's are rather cheap these days) and transfer the stuff across |
