well i just jioned here to tell tWl and fernando that it's guys like you that make this world a good place, last 4 mobo's have been intel ch/set's,and i made a jump into unfamiliar world-well i installed on a raid set and had a number of glitches -all sorted thanks to reading alot of what you guys have done.by the way i have some drives -wd RE edition 250's that were detached while still in a raid0 set (3 of them)-i have 2 now-niether can b seen in bios,is that because they r raid editions-saveable?-toss them?
anyway.......all hail....bow....bow |
Always nice to hear some good word time to time, thanks for the comment. Raid on Nvidia well it's open unlike at Intel's own closed world, lol. At nvidia all there is missing is the 'NEW' ones, hehe.. Now for example we've been stuck at v6.66,v6.86,v6.99 & vista v10.3.0.21, v10.1.0.2x & v9.99.09/04 for past some time. So, really could use new drivers which would actually work in some of the situations. (Like NcQ? AAM? all same driver? well, hehe, by now I trust you've seen the picture.)
I'd say even while you might have huge issues using raid on these they are the best v9.99.04 from MS or MSI or where ever can be got. Usual is v10.1.0.21 seems stable, but the v9.99.04 seems best as far I've seen even with really troublesome install on some occasions.

About the latest v67.80 NIC with the Sata drivers.
Still working on v9.99.09 and v9.99.04 on XP/Vista atm to get decent benchmarks up for some reason the 590i-SLI isn't comparable with the 430 AM2 board I had. However, I will figure up something on 630a first and then go back to 430, if nothing helps. Problem is software basis, so not hardware basis. The ideal speeds however I get still with v10.1.0.2x drivers for both systems these works really well as some had problems checking again. v10.3.0.21 kinda loses it's meaning it's kinda only HotSwap driver as v9.99.0x is so much faster.
and about other things.. If someone's interested:
Also well, though an idiotic plan to keep myself up-to-date. I builded up an IRC channel at Rizon network. address is irc://irc.rizon.net/tweakers (port +9999 is SSL port, if someone wants to use mirc, xchat or such).
features my 24/7 help, scripted Announcements from nForcersHQ News from front page, majorgeeks new Downloads, FileHippo New downloads, Guru3D News articles & Start64 Downloads there automatically announced as coming to network. (as for now)

How are the 67.80 ethernet better than those in the 15.01 for Windows Vista 64 SP1, and an nforce 4 mb?
Is the difference that much notable? |

Since I haven't seen TwL here for a while, I will try to answer for him:
According to TwL's findings the Ethernet driver v67.80 do not drop that much the performance of the nForce IDE drivers v9.xx and v10.x.x.xx as the previously released ones of the v67.xx series.

Obviously yes. |

I'm here no worries just had suddent several weeks Internet connection lost and lost one Hard drive on same bundle, but back on track.
Yeah, the network controller driver has huge impact how specified Sataxxx driver functions. Seems they are somehow connected to each other. Drops can't be anything from 10-50MB/s on drive speeds when we look from worth to best. v67.80 was specially good for v9.99.xx series of SataIDE/RAID/AHCI drivers because all before v67.80 released drivers had so big impact on the v9.99.xx series of drivers. This drop was 'removed' at v67.80. About v10.1.xx & v10.3.xx these makes harly no difference since v67.xx of NIC.
--
SataIDE v10.3.0.27 compined with v67.81 is a weird compo it's as stable than any previous compos but a bit faster getting 224MB/s Here on Burst speeds at Vista x86. At XP it looks like a bit faster than that 228MB/s Bursts.
SataIDE v9.99.09 *Fernando modded' compined with v67.80 NIC is the one which is curious as seems there v9.99.09 on Vista x64 kicks up 226MB/s and on XP x64 - 235MB/s.. Which is fastest there is.
^ But this is SataIDE the v10.3.0.27 would still be recommended for stability and perhas RAID(Which I did not test yet).

also tested v10.3.50.8 with v67.81 seems to be fast and stable on some "systems". Newer the system better the stability as usual. Speeds are same as above v10.3.0.27 or well very very near.

Thanks for your review of the new nForce IDE drivers v10.3.0.27 and Ethernet driver 67.81. Your results are very interesting.
I would rather like to put the 67.81 Ethernet driver into my driverpacks, but I still don't have a 64bit version of it.
Question: Where did you get the 64bit versions of the 67.81 Ethernet driver for Vista x64 and XP x64?

Thanks an typo.. Vista and XP x64 were tested on v67.80 from v15.17 driver package btw, dunno why but Nvidia took those driver packages down.

Thanks an typo.. Vista and XP x64 were tested on v67.80 from v15.17 driver package |
Thanks for the clarification.
By the way: It wouldn't have been necessary to take the 67.80 Ethernet driver from NVIDIA's pulled 15.17 package. All my actual XP and Vista driverpacks do contain that Ethernet driver.
If I didn't misunderstand you, this is the conclusion of your recent test results:- The newest nForce IDE drivers v10.3.0.27 and v10.3.50.8 seem to be as stable, but have a better performance than the v9.99.09 ones, if used in combination with the newest nForce Ethernet drivers 67.80/67.81.
Further questions to you:- Is this conclusion correct?
- If yes, are my recently published driverpacks with this IDE/Ethernet driver combination the better "Performance Packs" than the current ones with this name?
- Have you seen any advantage of the 67.81 Ethernet driver compared with the 67.80 one, if used with Windows XP or Vista x86? I ask this, because we got a report of someone, who had problems to get the 67.81 driver installed, whereas the 67.80 ran flawlessly.

They were pulled by NVIDIA, because the included nForce RAID driver v10.3.0.21 does not work with a lot of nForce RAID systems and even may let the RAID system crash with no chance to choose the "last good configuration". |

@Fernando
Thanks for the information and you know I keep my own personal Driver WHQL Database + the modded as update base, but in any other case I would of used your driver packages. |
