790i Ultra - Memory Clock Mode

Hi there,

Im about to start my first ever build: it will be based on the specified MB, corsair dominator DDR3 1800MHz RAM and an E8400.

Basically im confused about the memory settings: since this RAM isnt SLI ready I will have to set it up manually. I have been told that for optimum performance you need a 1:1 FSB:DRAM ratio - would this equate to setting the memory mode to 'linked' and then the ratio to 'sync? '

However, in order for me to actually utilise the majority of my RAM (1600MHz) it would seem that my ratio should be 2:1 (requiring my FSB to be at least 400). Does anyone have experience in running a configuration like this? Would i need to change the memory mode to 'unlinked' to achieve this?

In addition I have heard people say that the north bridge stap settings must be adjusted for 2:1 to give performance (something about IDE compatibility mode causing problems)

I would greatly appreciate some help.
