Hi,
About two months ago I got a new motherboard, cpu, etc and now I can't get an internet connection up and running in linux.
I am new to linux and have installed openSUSE 10.2 on a second partitionon my Windows XP machine. I wanted this to learn how to use Linux.
I have an Asus M2N-MX motherboard, an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ CPU and 1G DDR2 667MHz ram. According to the mobo user guide the chipset is NVIDIA nForce 430/ GeForce 6100 and the LAN is listed as ATTANSIC Gigabit LAN PHY. I connect to the internet (in Windows) using my LAN connection and my US Robotics Ethernet/Router.
To be honest I have been trawling the internet on and off for weeks now trying to find out how to get this up and running but being a newbie it's not easy. I have actually tried about 10 different distros but none of them let me access the internet.
If some kind person can help I would really appreciate it. |

What's the network adapter identified as in Windows?
What's ifconfig show?
How have you configured the adapter in Linux (DHCP, static addresses, gateway etc) compared to Windows? |
