I just installed vista ultimate on my A7N8X-Deluxe rev 2.0 (bios 1008) board 2-3 days ago and am currently running it. I have a few problems as well but all is working. First off you need to download the Realtek drivers from their website, I'm using 6251_Vista_APO.zip. Only problem it wont recognize the MCP ? I used the xp version of the driver and that worked fine. Also you need the silicon image raid drivers from their website.
Anyone else have experience with this board and vista ? I'm having some huge issues with cpu usage, some programs will make the system spike to 50-80%. I started using windows media player to listen to music and that seems not spike like media player classic, winamp. I'm looking to get this running a little more smoothly in games, the OS itself runs GREAT, but games seem to suffer greatly.
What drivers should I be looking for to make this run better? my specs are like this:
3200+ amd xp barton
a7n8x-deluxe Rev. 2.0
1 gigabyte ddr400
Sata 250gig seagate HDD
nvidia 6600 GT agp |

I will try the 6251_Vista_APO.zip for the audio but the main problem is the chipset driveres.
without drivers if I try to install the Vidio Card Driver ( ATI x1950 ) the system crash.
I also tried to use Windows-Update that find some nforce driver but after install the system crach

I had no problem whatsoever installing my graphics drivers, but then again it is a nvidia card I am using... Try running the latest nvidia chipset drivers for xp in compatibility mode and that may work ?
For the other nf2 owners out there, how is vista working with your configuration ? are there any tips for the rest of us to follow that may help us tweak a little more performance out of our systems ? I hear things like remix drivers and what not but I'm a bit confused onto if they'll help or not. Anybody out there with some good protips for us ? |

| I tryed the last xp version of the driver. They work but when I install the ATI drivers the system even does not boot. I think I will give up and change my board ... never again Nvidia. |

You have to use a old agp card for install, like a ati rage.
then install ati catylst 7.8 not 7.9 or 7.10.
once you unpack the driver swap cards and go safe mode device manager and update the driver.
dont use the onboard junk. |

Your problem isn't nvidia, it's the POS that is Windows Vista. I recently put XP back on my legacy nforce2 (a platform that is about 6 years old btw) and it's much better across the board. Sound works correctly again with the APU, Games are faster, it's so much better.
Vista looks nicer, but its really not good for legacy hardware. |
