Just got this motherboard and was wondering if it can support 400FSB ?

It says nForce 2 MCP on the chip.

not trying to sound sarcastic but from what it shows at the chaintech site it does.

i think the first boards to come out didn't support the 400fsb. how one would tell i'm not sure. i have the first pdf manual that only list up to 2700/333 cpus.

I would think that the MCP on that board would support 400MHz, possibly needing a bios update and/or new drivers.
Mine says MCP as well but is actually MCPS. The big changes with it were dual-channel and SATA.
Does yours have dual-channel?
Likely not a good investment trying to find a 400MHz FSB cpu so the advantage would be in faster RAM, PC3200, which you could likely reuse for some time with 754 or 939 socket.

It should support 200FSB (400) no problemo. Its a later revision NF2 Ultra chipset so it should pose no problem at all. The only issue is I can foresee is actually picking up a nice mobile CPU for the board preferrably a 25 or 2600M. It should function VERY well but be warned that not all NF2 boards will recognise the chip on boot and display "unknown CPU" but upon entering the bios simply assure that the proper default settings for the chip are entered (ie 166X11 for a 2500M) and you should be off to the races. Always a good idea to do your OS install with the chip running at default speeds then yo can entr the bios and make you OC adjustments as necessary ie increaseing Vcore if necessary and Vdimm chipset voltages as well. Good luck.
