I need to replace the HDD in my SN41G2. This will be a fresh install of Win XP Pro.
From what I have read, Win XP Pro, with no SP’s, will not recognise/utilise drives beyond 137GB.
How can I get around this with the XP Pro that I have and be able to use the drive as 1 partition?
Would I need to istall XP Pro, install SP2, convert the disk to a dynamic disk and then expand the volume to the remainder of the drive space?Any negative overhead with dynamic disk??
Thx. |

Ever heard of "slipstreaming" service packs?
Create a 100 MB partition
Install XP, run XP
Copy XP-CD to harddisk
Insert SP2-CD, merge it (slipstream) into the copy on disk
Burn XPwSP2-CD
Reformat
Install XPwSP2. |
