Looking for Remix Nforce2+Vista drivers

Postby Dukenukemx » Thu May 17, 2007 12:08 pm

I'm looking for a driver pack that'll install working drivers for Vista. Particularly drivers that'll get my DDL working.

Would seem so, others in other places have stated simple to install them in XP-SP2 compat mode.

For what it's worth, I've been using squall_leonhart69r's 11.15 remix. I extract the contents of the package and delete all of the driver folders that I don't want. Essentially, I leave only the SMBUS driver, the Audio driver (delete the mixer folder), and I also leave the Ethernet driver. Because loading the Soundstorm drivers from Windows Update inevitably gives me a blue screen, I boot to safe mode, then run the installer of the remix package. Again, I've only tested the audio driver, the ethernet driver, and the SMBus driver, and I should note that I run UAC off, so not sure what the outcome may be otherwise. With UAC off and in safe mode, the driver package installs without a single issue. I prefer the Ethernet driver in the remix package over the Vista default driver, as if you right click the device's properties tab in the device manager, you'll find that it gives you some of the options that are not available with the Vista driver, such as Optimize for CPU or Throughput.

Please...if you do decide to do this, understand that you're doing so at your own peril. (as though you didn't know that...but you never can tell :)

the agp driver is a preferred install as well, alot of people find installing it gives better graphic performance. (this only goes for installing on Nforce 2 and 3 boards under vista x86)... the x64 driver doesn't work.... and no, this doesn't fix the ATI+Nforce2/3 issue

I just had to try the AGP driver after reading your follow-up. It installed without a hitch, but I had a strange issue with video playback after rebooting. When attempting to play a video of any format or compression, the monitor would go black, and then would go into sleep mode. I could hear the audio, but monitor slept. After more experimentation, I got a BSOD courtesy of nvlddmkm.sys. I rolled back the GART driver, and no more issues. It seems to me that while trying the Vista betas last summer, forcing the GART install over the MS version caused me similar grief with the same .sys file. It must be something particular to my specific blend of hardware.

I have yet to get the NIC working in Vista. Have tried the drivers from the 6.14 betas, and the 8.22 and 11.15 remixes, still no luck. I get some Local Access only when I hover over the network in the systray. Anyone got any ideas? I've tried all of these from fresh installs of Vista, and I'm using a NF7-S 2.0 mobo.
