I am running A7N8X rev 1.04 and XP2600 which has ran at 2040 for years.
I upgraded to bios 1008 (from 1001E)as I could not get some new OCZ PC3200 Platinum to run on my board, although it always has ran OCZ PC3200 basic.
Something is definitely seriously weird with this “Duel Channel” 1008 bios.
No matter what I change
CPU external 133 or 166 Mhz
CPU frequency x11/x12.5/8.0 =16/auto
Bios on boot says I have a cpu 1240Mhz….cpuz reports the same and I don’t seem able to get out of the duel channel mode………….any ideas how I can
I am not a regular bios flash expert so is it possible/advisable to get rid of this “Duel Channel” 1008 and revert to a lower one.
Any ideas

Please forgive my inexperience in not understanding Duel Channel boot
I have now understand this….duh!
But no matter what setting cpu frequency/external/memory frequency I use XP2600 still shows 1250Mhz on boot |

That’s a very good question…………………..but no.
I have cleared the cmos so often trying to get some ocz platinum PC3200 ram to work that I have become quite expert at using the jumpers 1 and 2 normal default, 2 and 3 clear cmos.
Fsb 1 and 2 fsb333/226, 2 and 3 fsb200
I wish it was something as daft as you asked wonkanoby |

I reverted back to bios 1001E and my XP2600 was recognised immediately, with cpuz saying the same.
I then flashed to bios 1007 and on boot bios says 1250Mhz processor, the same as it did with bios 1008 and again with cpuz saying 1250 Mhz.
Changing bios settings 133/166 fsb with multipliers x11/x12.5, memory syn/auto/100% etc my cpu is only recognised as 1250Mhz
I am confused to say the least |

Success at last
After much web searching and a lot of help and advice I was pointed in the direction of trats at the following forum.
http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=352324
His modified version of 1009 bios flashed fine and recognised my XP2600 on boot and showing 2088Mhz in cpuz
I still cannot get the ocz ram to work, so its back to good auld Crucial.
Thanks to all who replied to this thread.
Cheers
