|
|
|
I was wondering if anyone could help me diagnose a problem as I'm running out of options.
Here are the specs:
Gigabyte N650-SLI-DS4L
Geforce 8800 GTS (old version) 320MB DDR3
Intel Q6600
4 GB (2x2GB) OC-Z Memory (OCZ2P8400GK)
550W Rosewill Performance power supply (RP550V2-D-SL)
Seagate Barracuda 500 GB HD
Lite-On DVD Burner
Windows XP Pro SP2
The problem:
It will just randomly reboot. A time I can get it to consistently reboot is during Hellgate: London as it's loading to go to a new area.
I was able to get an error code only twice after these reboots (other times, the BSOD never shows up as I've disabled automatic restart).

What I've gone through:
Heat
1) After random restart, the motherboard shows the system at 36C and the CPU at 42C
Memory
1) Running Memtest86+ - Ran 7 Full Passes without error
2) Trying less memory
3) Switching slots
4) Trying different & less memory
5) Upping the voltage on the memory
6) Changing the timings on the memory (only tried one other configuration than optimal one set by mobo)
Drivers
1) Updated all drivers
2) Used alternative IDE drivers instead
3) Uninstalled LAN drivers
Settings in BIOS
1) Disabled onboard LAN & audio
Software
1) Reinstalled Windows after reformat; even used a different version (Home). Installed only bare essentials needed to run to minimize possible software interference
CPU
1) Stressed CPU using Ortho and Prime95
Graphics
1) Inserted an alternative graphics card (Geforce 8800 GT)
2) Stressed graphics card using 3dMark using highest settings and in-game on Cryis and Hellgate
I have not tested the PSU, the hard drive (don't have an alternative right now), or an alternative CPU yet.
Any other thoughts or suggestions on possible explanations or fixes would be greatly appreciated.
/EDIT/
Tested the 550W PSU from my main rig (stable) and failed.

What size is ur PSU
PSU could cause that problem, i dont build a system these days with less than a 500watt PSU in. |

| Both PSU's that I tried were 550W. The one that I use in my main rig is one I know performs well. |
