GA-7N400S + 6600GT AGP Graphics Problems

Postby bonefreak » Sun May 13, 2007 4:16 pm

Hey
I have a Gigabyte GA-7N400S motherboard and recently picked up a Gigabyte 6600GT 256 AGP card and i'm having problems with it. All the games that i've tried to play contain artifacts or just crash (e.g. Doom 3, Half Life 2, Command and Conquer 3).

I've got the graphics card plugged in to the power. Installed the latest nvidia display drivers and still no good. I've gone into the BIOS of the system but I can't seem to find anything that will help to increase the power to the AGP port. I"ve pressed the ctrl+F1 function which unlocks several things but i can't seem to find a way to increase the voltage to any of the components (CPU, AGP or RAM). The only thing i've been able to do it change the AGP apature to 265mb.

Also the little nvidia control panel thing that comes with their drivers is also saying that the 6600GT card is running at 4X AGP, how can I make it run at 8X AGP.

Is this card faulty or is there not enough power coming from the motherboard? Or is the card not compatible at all? Any help would be great. THANKS

Id would have to ask"How big is the power supply?" I was checking the specs on that board and it says 8x/4x capable. I am running a 6600 GT (126MB dual DVI)with my 7nnxp,580 Powmax PSU and have NO problems. MAin thing is that the POWER plug in(seperate from the MB) is a seperate plug on the power supply and NOT a Y type with somethinmg else attached.
Im sure other people have use a pro version of same MB will have a better idea on the "voltage" and where to find them. YOY may have to set the "cpu" at expert to get to the "voltage " changes.
THERE should be a"sticky" on the main board dealing with vid card, check that out as i have seen some strange things people have had as far as problems.
Ive played Ut4 WITH no PROBLEM!

i would say that its possible again as i posted in another gigabyte post a few mins ago this might be the old Voltage problems ive come across so many times on Gigabyte boards where the graphic slot isnt supplying the voltage it should to the card.

From what i just saw from the "offical manual" there is only a CPU voltage and fsb setting, i dunno if the Gigabyte "easy tune" 4 MAYBE something that could change a few other voltage settings. I have no experience with that board, maybe its a"not cable" of changing things voltage wise.
i know the 7n400pro2 and pro version are volage changeable
