Well i know alot of people got stuttering in bf1942 desert combat all i did was just drop it to low quality sound and its like a totaly new game, the frames are always high but the stuttering with high quality sound is just so damn annoying!

Also other suggestions

1. Raising Agp voltage to 1.7 Volts

2. http://thin.wirespy.com/win2ktweaks.htm
^ Turning Off Io page locks and setting Disable Executive Paging

I have my io page locks disabled, i get mad stuttering with enabled when i used to have XP!

I also have a solution that works for me (and others who tried it) see sig. Hi bloodUK, I said hello on a bf1942 server - sgt.sixpack.

I found that setting my CPU to 133x16 so as to run in sync with my PC2100 ram got rid of the majority of stuttering, except in NF Hot Pursuit 2, but that games poorly coded. I also did your disable service trick as I installed the Catalysts.

I tried a few different Catalyst versions, and I find the 3.2's to be most stable at the moment, maybe the 3.4's. The newer Cats may give higher 3dm results, but I care about smooth gameplay more than high numbers.

I got Fast Writes disabled in bios, and have ran the SmartGart uninstaller. AGP Arpature set to 64mb.

3dm2003 Mother Nature is lush by the way, I too get a bit of stutter when the cam pans upwards at the beginning, but thats understandable, thank god games arent that intensive!

Does anyone have a link to the earlier version of the cats? I'm running the most recent cats, 3.13 nforce with sw ide driver, and I get mad studdering in my games. I quickly became frustrated with my system and was about to replace it with an intel based computer. With that aside I have tried turning off fastwrites and it hasn't helped. I will check out the pci thing, the earlier version of cats, and any other thing. The origianal fix hasn't helped me any but I will try it along with all of these things from a fresh install of windows. It's late and I gotta get studying but I will test these things out in the morning. The 1.7v for agp - isn't that enough to hurt the card? And why would you need the extra voltage?! I will try turning hardware acceleration down a notch in windows and see if this works too.

I used to get stuttering in NWN & BF1942.

Neverwinter Nights is known to stutter on some maps on any system but I found a solution to make the game stutter free most of the time.

Simply Choose Miles Fast as the Audio Provider. Do not check "Use Hardware" or select any speakers!

BF1942's stuttering was fixed after I enabled Hardware Sound Acceleration.
