Solid State Drives...

Postby Silver Bull3t » Sat Jun 04, 2005 3:29 am

....Posted this in the gigabyte mobo specific forum... but it prety much applies to all of us... I was wondering how long it would take someone to market a RAM disk. Major boot quickness.

Yeah, thats smart ain't it, Wonder what it costs to kit it out with 12GB, doubt it's not commercialy viable due to the price tag but oh yes, I would like one!

Crucial tech has a 4GB PC2100 dimm. I don't know if the card supports DIMM's that size, but if it does, putting 16GB on it would set you back some twelve thousand euro.

4GB is more viable, coming it at roughly 400 euro's, and even equipping it with 8GB isn't ludicrously expensive.

Given the way global hardware prices work, 400 euro's boils down to about twelve cents in the USA. (Okay, make it $220 or so)

Got a battery on it that lasts about 12 hours I think.
And that is prolly only used when you UNPLUG the computer, I think it would get power even if you shut the computer down, but if you get a power outage, or move it you got 12 hours.

Neat stats on HKEPC link above hehe.
