I've had some problems with my Shuttle SN41G2 where it shuts itself down and the red "hazard" light on the board stays on until I fix unplug the power and reboot...

It seems to be temperature related - but I am keeping careful watch on the CPU temperature and it gets no higher than 50C - which is comfortable. The autoshutdown temperature in the BIOS is set quite higher than that.

This occurs when the PC is stressed out playing games - so I can definitely see it is temperature related. However according to the manual the light should flash if CPU temperature is too high and the light, it no flashy. Whatever though.

I am keeping watch on the temperature using MBM (syslogging to another machine) and when it shutsdown I reboot into the BIOS and check the temperature using the Health screen...

Could the temperature sensor be off?

This is a SN41G2, w 1GB crucial RAM and a ATI Radeon 9600 256MB card...

The machine has been running like a champion since I built it (about 2 years ago)...

Welcome to the Forums!

Temp sensors are notorious for being off

Sounds like you're just running too hot

I set my thermal shutdown in BIOS to its lowest point

Try using Speedfan instead of MBM5

Improve your case ventilation & consider a better HSF

Good Luck!

Double check to make sure your fan for the heatsink is actually running. Also check the ventilation holes on your machine to be sure they aren't plugged up. (They are notorious for collecting dust and animal hair quickly)

You also might try forcing your fan on via the BIOS. Force it at medium or something and don't rely on it to come on automatically.
