Hi to all!

I use a UT Lanparty Ultra-D and I have had some problemes lately which led me to the assumption that there is a bug in latest DFI bios. Here is the story :

1) When trying to write to USB external disk I got "delayed write fail" errors and the usb device becomes unusable

2) I did make a search @ dfi street. Some guys have the same problem in addition to usb 2.0 problems. Most threads conclude that it is a driver issue and suggest to users to remove and re-install drivers. NOT my case...

3) followed the problem down to microsoft support, where I found a topic saying that this issue may happen when trying to write to "full speed" USB devices. (full speed = usb 1.1 // high speed = usb 2.0). But... w8 a minute. I am supposed to use USB 2.0 device....

4) made some tests and all my usb 2.0 devices (flash disks // external disks) are having usb 1.1 speed... Now we are getting somewhere...

4) I reboot pc and here what I discovered :

See the problem? Usb 2.0 devices are being recognised from bios as USB 1.x. My external disk should be recognised as "high speed" and not "full speed"
So there is no windows problem here... It is clearly a bios issue.

Any ideas of how to resolve the problem? Anyone here having the same problem with me?

Thanks in advance for any help u might give...

There are settings in the bios that force USB 1.1 mode, have a look and see if you can set it to 1.1 + 2.0

As another thing, are you testing this on case ports, or the ones at the rear of the mobo?

What PSU are you running, and what is the Amperage of its 5VSB line?

What position is the USB standby jumper in (Check the manual for its location) if your system has a weak 5VSB rail, it may not have enough juice to run the drive. Swapping to use 5V instead of 5VSB may solve the issue (I had this happen on a cheap rig i built for a friend)
(To test this, see if USB devices like mice have power when the system is off but still plugged in)

Any help would be appreciated I'm going to try the 5v rail thing in a minute.

Well it doenst matter if ports are front or rear, or if vltage is set to 5v or 5vsb. In all cases the devices show up as full speed (per the screen shot in an earlier post)and hence are unavailbale when vista boots up. they are only available if i force everything to 1.1...
