Hello! I'm new to the boards, having had my mobo (a7n8x-e deluxe) for several years without incident. Recently, I was playing with my rate settings in Counterstrike: Source, and suddenly my audio began to sound garbled, in such a fashion that I could only hear sounds that came from around me, as opposed to directly from me, i.e. I could hear echoes of my gunshots, but not the shots themselves, nor could I hear my teammates talking. I soon realized that this was a problem in all programs, and suspected my Soundblaster Audigy 2 had taken a turn for the worse, perhaps driver-wise. After fiddling with the drivers for a while, I opted for a fresh install of windows. Much to my surprise, the problem was still there, audio sounding bad and all. I tried another install, installing the Audigy 2 drivers before anything else, and then tested the sound, which was still garbled. I then took out the Audigy 2 and re-activated the onboard sound in the BIOS, after which I installed the audio drivers from Nforce. Same problem. I then booted into Knoppix (a live Linux distro) and tested the sound again, with the same results, proving it's unrelated to Windows drivers. I tried flashing the CMOS and successfully reset the BIOS, but after that I had the same sound problem, and a Blue Screen O' Doom shortly after, whereupon my computer refused to boot for a while. Now it's booting again, the sound is still bad, and I'm wondering if I simply need to buy a new mobo.
Thanks for putting up with EXTREME narrative...
Now a little help, if possible? |

ok let me put this bluntly
Sound not working on Audigy 2
Sound not working on Onboard.
does this not SCREAM out to you that the problem is the speakers themselves.? |
