Uggh, I have been working on this built from scratch system for 3 days now, my wife is MAD, I need to return to earth, and soon. I am almost there, but vista is prompting me to load drivers for my sony dru-830 DVD Drives? or more likely the IDE Controller Drivers. I cant get to vista install without them. But none of the drivers I have tried work. I read a post that suggested setting DVD Drive to slave, didn't work Please Help. Crying or Very sad

Hey, I've got the same mobo, and while I'm still running windows XP, I'm having issues with an IDE-based cd/dvd combo drive. If I get an answer, I'll pass the suggestion to you.

After I updated the firmware on my DRU-810 and Windows kept asking for drivers.

Vista isn't very good at dealing with detecting CD-ROM devices for some reason.

When it asks for drivers try pointing at C:\Windows\System32\DriveStore
Check subdirectories.

It also solves a problem mounting Sandisks "U3 Smart" brand Cruzer Micro USB flash drive .

There's a firmware that wants to mount as a CDFS containing Sandisk's Launchpad code, before it lets you mount and use the the 4GB space.

Basically point the finger at MS for this one. Something is wrong with Vista's ability to detect cdroms/CDFS and install the drivers.
