Internet stopped working on my newly built PC running Vista Ultimate 32, specs listed below, I noticed my IP address is now set to APIPA "169.254.XXX.XXX". This is a clean Vista 32 install, I used newest Nforce and Gforce drivers from Nvidia site, and flashed the bios to newest P28. Everything installed fine, games loaded with no problem, no virus scanner/firewall installed yet, internet was working fine. Then I ran nvidia’s Ntune and let it do its thing, I had to reboot a couple times after expected stalls. Ntune completed and then I went back to gaming. The next day I tried to get on the internet and got the infamous "Limited or no connectivity", and my IP address was showing "169.254.XXX.XXX". I ran all the usual ipconfig correction attempts, nothing. Uninstalled and reinstalled the nic drivers, nothing. Set IP address and DNS to static, nothing. Unplugged both router and PC for a few minutes, nothing. My second PC a Pentium 4, also running Vista Ultimate 32, and plugged into same Linksys router is still connecting fine.
Seems to me that at least in my case, running nvidia’s ntune on a 680i board with Vista is probably the culprit. Has anyone else had this happen under these circumstances and if so how did you correct this problem?
PS. Motherboard does have dual nics however, only first one is connected to router.
Thanks guys

Been having this problem as well. Same things in common, Nforce 680i and Vista 64bit(although I'm sure 32bit has it as well). The strange part for me is that my internet connection has been fine for an entire month, and it randomly decided to stop working. I haven't changed anything in my configuration or software.
Thought it was a software issue, so I updated nForce drivers...updated Bios (P30). No dice. Tried rolling back drivers to the original microsoft vista version, nothing. Also tried the reset, unplugging power as well, about 20 times...no use. Thought it was the rj45, tested same cable and port on 3 other computers and they worked fine. I did the diagnostics and recommended solutions that vista gave too, does not work.
Finally resorted to reinstalling fresh copy of Vista, because I thought it was corrupted...still the same things. I'm sure you already RMA'd the board like I'm going to do, but I just wanted to let you know not to waste your time in case you're hoping the latest drivers/bios will fix it.
Starting to get sick of Vista & the Nforce chipset. If there was a lemon law, half of these things would be returned by now.
