SSDs to get faster with SATA Express
...
DRAMeXchange also explains that the current move to the SATA 6Gb/s interface standard is a temporary stop-gap system while the SATA-IO working group refines its SATA Express standard. Designed to combine the software infrastructure of SATA connectivity with the electrical transfer interface of PCI Express, the SATA Express standard promises peak transfer rates of up to 16Gb/s compared to the 6Gb/s offered by standard SATA.

The thing I would really like to see are SATA drivers that are tailored to SSD use. The new standard won't help much most of today's SSDs, that can't saturate a SATA 3 bandwidth, for what I understand.

It won't be out til 2014, so I don't think you need to worry about 'todays SSDs' heh.

What I did not like was the "SSDs to get faster with faster standard" line. It reads like the new standard will improve the performance of any SSD connected to it. No, it won't. :hoghappy:

1.6 TB 20nm Wolfsville SSD in Q1 2013
Intel has interesting plans
...
The new drive should end up branded as 500 series starts at modest 60GB and it looks like it should replace the 520 series.
In the second half of 2012 the 520 series replaces the 320 series in this market segment, but this happens only “if necessary”.

OCZ releases Vertex, Agility, Solid2 firmware update
...
Designed for Vertex, Agility and Solid2 drives made after December 2009, the update brings the firmware version to 3.55 and adds additional over-provisioning to the drives in order to boost performance and increase longevity. The result is a loss in usable capacity from 119.24GB on firmware 1.7 to 111.79GB with 3.55, but a boost in sequential write speeds from 187.44MB/s to 216MB/s.
