DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Sli-Dr Expert HELP

Postby ronaldinho » Thu Dec 22, 2011 12:26 am

Hello! I m going to format my pc and install again a clean version of Windows XP Professional SP3. My hardware is:

Mobo: DFI LanParty UT nF4 Sli-Dr Expert
CPU: AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+
RAM: OCZ DDR PC3200 EL Platinum (2x1GB) σε dual channel
GPU: Point of View Geforce 7800GTX 512MB
Hard Disk1: Seagatte Baracuda ST3120813AS (120 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II)
Hard Disk2: Seagatte Baracuda ST3250620AS (250 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II)

And i dont work with RAID. I have disabled all RAID options on my BIOS.
Only Mac Lan is enabled, so i use only Marvel Yukon 88E8001 ethernet for my internet.

My questions are...

1) Motherboad's cd has nf4 chipset drivers version 6.66 Are there any new and better official drivers to install ? Somewhere i read about 6.70 version but i don't if they are doing for my mobo and if they are official...
Also i saw this stickied topic XP: Optimized nForce Driver Packs with many nf4 drivers but i dont know very well english and didnt understand which one of these are best for me.

Is this ? NForce4 WHQL Driverpacks for XP 32/64bit

2) When i run setup for nf4 chipset drivers it has these 4 options.

SMBus Nvidia
Ethernet Nvidia
IDE Nvidia
Audio Nvidia

Somewhere i read that users with DFI Lanparty nf4 they DONT choose to instal this IDE driver because it causes problems bluescreens BSOD. Is it true? So when i m going to install fresh windows XP i will not choose this IDE Driver? Windows XP Pro have better drive so i can leave it?

For Ethernet and Audio drivers i downloaded latests drivers from official site so i wan't install them from mobo's cd.
So the only option i will choose from cd and instal is SMBus Nvidia? Please tell me if i am wrong. I dont know what to do with this IDE Driver if it is neceserry or not to instal?

3) Do i need to install drivers or any hotfix for my CPU: AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ ??? I have found these

AMD Dual-Core Optimizer Version 1.1.4
AMD Processor Driver Version 1.3.2.0053 for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 (x86 and x64)

Is it necessery to install them? Or Windows XP SP3 have these updates for my dual core cpu to work correctly ?

I hope to help me!

What you certainly mean are the nForce IDE (SATA and RAID) drivers for Windows XP.
Yes, there are newer and probably better XP nForce SATA and RAID driver versions available, but none of these drivers have been officially released by NVIDIA for nForce4 chipsets. Nevertheless such newer and better nForce4 compatible drivers are available
Also i saw this stickied topic XP: Optimized nForce Driver Packs with many nf4 drivers but i dont know very well english and didnt understand which one of these are best for me.
Probably the best nForce driverpack for your configuration is my "Non-AHCI nForce Performance Pack".
Some nForce chipset users reported about problems with the nForce P-ATA driver (=native IDE or IDE s/w driver), which is usable with native IDE drives (have a 40pin connector), but I never heard about such problems with the nForce S-ATA drivers.
So if you don't have any P-ATA connected drive (hdd or optical drive), you should avoid to install the nForce IDE s/w driver, but you should accept the offered nForce SATA (=Storage) driver.
This is what I recommand:
1. Do a fresh install of Windows XP SP3 without loading (F6) or integrating any drivers.
2. Once XP is up, have a look into the Device Manager for missing drivers or "Unknown Devices".
3. Run the installer of the appropriate nForce chipset driverpack (best choice: the 32bit "Non-AHCI nForce Performance Pack") and choose the offered "Storage Drivers" and the "SMBus Drivers".
3) Do i need to install drivers or any hotfix for my CPU: AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ ???
After having completed the XP installation, look into the Device Manager for "Unknown Devices". If yes, find out the name or the details of the related devices.
This way you can verify, if the OS needs a special driver or not.

Thank you very much !

1. I have optical drive with P-ATA connected so i must instal IDE driver right? So i must select this also
SATAIDE Driver (v9.99.09) right?

2. I dont know how to install Windows XP SP3 without loading or integrating any drivers :( I have never do this before so i dont know.. Is there any instructions or a topic about this? I want to instal Non-AHCI nForce Performance Pack :)

3. Is it mistake that i use for my internet Marvel Yukon ethernet ? It has two Gigabit LAN ports, one controlled by the chipset together with Vitesse VSC8201 chip, which makes the physical layer interface, and another controlled by Marvell 88E8001 chip.

My CPU work more with marvel? so i should chose Vitesse ? Or i m ok with marvell too? (Sorry about off-topic)

No, the P-ATA drives will e supported by the Win7 in-box MS IDE driver.
So i must select this also SATAIDE Driver (v9.99.09) right?
This driver is only suitable for your SATA hdd's.
2. I dont know how to install Windows XP SP3 without loading or integrating any drivers
Just boot off the XP SP3 CD and let the XP Setup do its work. No separate drivers will be needed for the installation.
Once the OS is up, you can run the installer (SETUP.EXE) of the 32bit "Non-AHCI nForce Performance Pack for Windows XP".
3. Is it mistake that i use for my internet Marvel Yukon ethernet ?
No, but I recommend to install the latest Marvell Ethernet driver after having completed the OS installation.

Hello, i did a fresh install of windows XP Pro SP3 and installed the Non-AHCI nForce Performance Pack for Windows XP pack.
I have 2 questions.

1. Unfortunately i forgot to run the optional IDE driver registry cleaner (made by TwL) :( and i read at instructions that should be run after install the Non-AHCI nForce Performance Pack and NOT REBOOT. I forgot it and i reboot :( Is it wrong to run the .reg file now? Or is it not nesecery because i did format and instaled fresh windows XP ?

2. After instal this pack i see my hard drives with the name of SCSI Disk Device , Is this ok?

Yes, it is not necessary, because you did a fresh OS install.

Yes, that is a feature of the nForce SATA driver v9.99.09, which makes it possible to do "hot Plugging" even with the hard drives (except the system drive).

Merry Christmas!
