You just have to wonder what goes through their design teams heads when VIA sits down to develop a new chip.

"Ok guys lets design another CPU thats going to woefully underperform and push us even further into the dark ages. We know what the others have created and we'll just push out something with a quarter of the power!"

So this attempt is almost slightly interesting but its two years too late and about to get blitzed by the others with far superior alternatives. Yes I assume their ideas are limited by budget but does that really limit chip design? It's not like anyone is sitting around waiting for their new chips.

VIA are a waste of a x86 license to be honest. I bet Nvidia wishes it could snap them up.

Yeah the Nano CPU itself is still a bit lacklustre, and it's not hugely faster than an Atom overall, even the dual core version.

At least this new IGP seems to have some punch, but by now you'd have thought they would have at least integrated a Northbridge into their CPU or a couple of PCI-E links to get the most out of it.

I just can't see what market they are aiming at anymore, as Intel & AMD pretty much have all bases covered, even the low power stuff, unless they are planning to sell these things dirt cheap, but most Nano boards even now (if you can find them!) are still way way too expensive for what they are.

I imagine Via still has a localized market in Taiwan and China to target, I don't think anyone honestly cares about them anymore

VIA QuadCore Preview & Centaur Tour :-

VIA Technologies and Centaur Technologies are back with what it is calling the world's most efficient x86 multicore processor on the planet. Seeing so much done with so little is impressive, but what is even more impressive is seeing four cores falling into a power envelope of less than 28 watts TDP.
