It's ironic that they switch marketing to performance per watt overnight...like "We didn't have any of this and now we're AT THE TOP!"

They've done it a heck of a lot before though, I've had OEM Nvidia made cards before (my old 6800 Ultra was, and my 7800GTX), but just not sold in a retail box.

They tend to make quite a lot of complete cards for the lower end partners, but all the top tier ones seem to make their own.

Seems the story is legit anyway, 'Made By Nvidia' retail cards are a go (w/3 year warranty):-

I think I want one...

Heh. The box aesthetics kinda remind me of the 3dfx branded cards that were in circulation when they bought up STB.

Not suggesting they're repeating history of course ;)

[edit] nm, forgotten 3dfx had those weird faces on them.

It definitely has rings of that!

Obviously Charlie Demerjian already has a take on it :-

With all the fuss, it is 'only' @ Newegg and Best Buy for now though, and it might only be, we don't know yet.

Rumor: Geforce GTX 580 with 512 cores in December :-

The Nvidia flagship rumored for a December release is the GeForce GTX 580 and it is supposed to be powered by a new 40nm GPU (GF110) packing 512 CUDA Cores and some 128 texture units (the GTX 480 has 60 TMUs). The alleged card would also have a 512-bit memory interface, 2GB of GDDR5 memory, a TDP close to that of the GTX 480, two (6-pin + 8-pin) PCIe power connectors and one mini HDMI, plus two DVI outputs.
