Realtek AC'97 problem help needed

Postby VGZNGLB » Fri Jun 18, 2010 6:30 am

hi everyone!
I have Realtek AC'97 onboard audio on ASUS A8N-E mainboard, OS Windows XP with SP3. I have looked trough other topics in this and other forums, of people with this problem, but mine is a bit different.

The problem is that when i play music/film/game, after 5-6 mins(sometimes less sometimes more) the sound gets distorted and weird (i can't really explain it cuz my english is not so good). I've tried every driver on the web and i still get that problem. I even reinstalled windows to try start from scratch, but again the sound distorts. I've had this problem for few months and now things are so f**ked, that when i play music/film/game (anything with sound, even youtube) the PC automatically restarts and when windows loads there is absolutely no sound. I go to device manager and it doesn't find any audio device. i restart and i still have the problem, so i shut down the computer and when i start it again the sound card is ok until i start anything with sound and then i go trough that circle again... :\
So i can usem my computer mostly like a typing machine :D

Any suggestions and help pls...
thx in advance!

PS. oh i forgot to mention i had both winXP and Vista, and on Vista i didn't have any problems. But i don't have Vista now and i don't wanna install it cuz it's too hard on my PC.

yeah .. i have only a firewire card and i removed it from the slot, but still get the same problem.
If i haven't tried the whole thing on Vista i would say that the sound card is broken, but it works with no problem on win Vista. I can try with win 7, but it doesn't find my HDD which is weird since Vista finds it.. I saw on forums that other people with the same configureation got that problem too.
