setting up network with XP and Vista OS

Postby matryx » Sun Nov 08, 2009 3:38 am

I'm having trouble sharing files with my desktop to my laptop. I have them both connected to a Dlink DI-524 router. Both of them are plugged in using a Ethernet cable to the LAN ports, but when I try to access the laptop which has Vista OS it says not accessible and I may not have permission and the network path is not found. If anyone can help me set this up that would be really great.

Yes as that article states make sure all on the same workgroup and as I have found make sure Netbios is working on all machines.

Then amazingly in most cases it works.

I'm now no longer the kiss of death on networks. :)
