Prototype

Postby Seawolf » Sun Jun 14, 2009 9:32 am

You know you were curious...

Much like Assassins Creed, they start you with near everything then send you back to the beginning of the story...which actually seems a lot more confusing here.

It's a very strange story, and I want to see more of where it's going. It is a lot of fun to be this sort of super-villian who's basically a guy just trying not to get killed while trying to figure out what the hell is going on, though I certainly can't say I feel much of a connection to the main character. The game starts fast and keeps going such, so far. The story comes to you in tiny bits and pieces at first.

I've only played through three or so missions so I'm not qualified to do a full review. But I'm definately glad I picked this one up...it's a very surreal, chaotic, and definately memorable game.

Alas, I'm at work so I can't play any more until I actually do some work. :)

What a wierd game. I love it.

Side note: the game uses XAudio 2. About time I found something that used that.

Heh heh.

I think I'm halfway through the game. It's purely awesome and despite your guy being a little psychotic, his intentions are pure...I'm not sure how the story will end, but so far it's trying to stay alive and figuring out more about the virus at the same time. The running up the sides of buildings thing never gets old, and often when you think you have the gameplay figured out it'll throw new twists at you.

There is a large amount of causing chaos, so if you're not the type that enjoys that it's not the game for you...but seriously, why would you be playing open world games if you didn't? :p

I just hijacked my first chopper in the air...that makes getting across town a HELL of a lot quicker :D I really doubt I've seen everything the game wants to throw at me, but I am pretty high on the upgraded skillsets...I think. It unlocks more after every mission, so really I have no idea.

IMO if you skip this game, you're seriously missing out. I've heard the Xbox 360 version is the worst one, though, which explains the review scores being slightly lower...glad I got the PC one, but I'm sure they'll update it if that's what you're going with.

On another side note...you can only imagine when they were first thinking about this game, it was a zombie game. Hee.

I heard it the other way around.
The PC version is just another "consoled" game.

PS: Although that was PS3 vs. PC versions.

It's an action game. What do you expect? All of that type of game are 'console' games.

I'm just talking optimization, though...and I heard no complaints about the PS3 version.

I think the complaint about PC games being too much like console games has become ridiculous. If a game's good, I don't care if it fails to differentiate its interface.

As it stands, I'm just glad people are still making PC games.

I no longer know. I've heard it's above 40 but I had to restart cause I came home tired one day and overwrote my savegame.

:(

Plus it's quicker on the second run through, when you've got all that experience under your belt. Though I did find new things to do. :) There're plenty of events that I'm not quite as interested in around the map, kinda like Crackdowns rooftop races and whatnot...but some of them are story relevant.

Kinda both? Some are races, some are story relevant, some are 'kill as many of X as you can in a time limit'...they pop up as you go through the story missions.
