They really ditched Nforce 3, huh?

Postby cartel » Fri Mar 14, 2008 1:24 pm

I can't believe Nvidia ditched those customers.
I just bought a 3850 AGP card, and it's awesome.

With newer technology, lower AGP power consuption should make AGP a option again.

Too bad Nvidia won't be part of it.....

Well Nvidia likes to play dirty tricks, nforce3 works fine under vista 32 and 64 but only with a nvidia geforce card (using unofficial beta drivers). Any ATI card gets a code 43 error under vista and has texture acceleration disabled under XP64 if you're using multi-core AMD processor.

So it works perfectly well but Nvidia basically don't provide drivers

1) to force you to upgrade

2) Force you to buy their products by crippling function with competitor hardware

I am still wondering why Nvidia got into the motherboard marketplace.
They are creating Driver hell for us and do not simply provide drivers in zip format and everything must be EXE to install when i just want it unzipped!

First it was DLL HELL and now its DRIVER HELL.
I should say my newer Nvidia mobo worked flawlessly with Vista.
Just the older stuff they drag their feet on.

I just installed Win 7 RC on a Biostar K8NHA Grand mobo (Athlon 64 3400+, 2Gb ram, 512mb 7600GT 512Mb AGP) and am amazed that Win 7 has drivers for everything. Works fine so far.
