Hi DblBuffer,

you will not be able to get any nForce SATA driver installed with your current hardware configuration and BIOS settings, because the specification of the in-use NVIDIA nForce IDE Controller (DEV_0759) is only compatible with the generic MS IDE driver named PCIIDE.SYS.
Is it possible, that your hdd is a PATA one?

This is what I recommend for you:
1. Save your imortant datas.
2. Make sure, that you are using a SATA2 hdd, which is connected to an AHCI capable NVIDIA nForce SATA Controller of your mainboard.
3. Enable the "AHCI Mode" within the mainboard BIOS.
Attention:
If you are running Windows XP (32/64bit), you will not be able to run it in "AHCI Mode" unless you have done some previous preparations (by copying the needed AHCI driver into the SYSTEM32\DRIVERS folder and doing some special registry settings). The better and safer way would be a fresh OS installation by using a Windows XP CD with integrated nForce AHCI driver according to Chapter B of this guide.

Good luck!
Fernando

Fernando, thanks for the quick reply.

Both hard drives are SATA2, one is a 750gb, the other is a 160gb.

Computer is running vista x64, the bios is configured as "optimal settings" but i cant make the computer boot if the drives are running AHCI, i have to manually change to PATA (i can select PATA, AHCI and RAID) mode to make computer boot.

Is nvidia going to address this issue?

Thanks again for your time.

You will be able to run Vista x64 without any problem in AHCI or RAID mode, but unfortunately the Vista in-box nForce IDE drivers do not support the specific nForce SATA AHCI Controllers of your mainboard's chipset. The problem is, that you cannot install any drivers, if the OS doesn't find the appropriate device (in your case the nForce SATA AHCI Controller).
My suggestion: Either do an upgrade to Windows 7 x64, which has actual nForce SATA AHCI drivers suitable for your chipset in-the-box, or do a fresh install of Vista x64 by loading the appropriate nForce SATA_IDE driver folder of the actual AHCI supporting nForce chipset driverpack.
