Re: New offi. nforce Win7 (32/64) 15.35+15.37 WHQL

Postby Gabe3 » Sun May 31, 2009 6:25 pm

anyone have luck installing win7 x64 onto a raid0 system using a nforce4 chipset? I'm trying to win7 x64 into a raid0 using a dfi lanparty ut nf4 ultra-d motherboard.

edit: I'm going to try this guide: http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/win7-beta-rc-nvraid-installation-guide-t72447.html

hopefully it will work for my nf4 raid0

They should work with your chipset.
If you don't succeed with the original 15.35/15.37 driverpacks, try my modified ones.

Thanks in advance!

Good luck!

Win 7 32-bit, build 7100, Asus A8N SLI SE m/b, nVidia nForce 4 SLI chipset. SATA mode ACHI (AFAICT).

Installation made difficult as both SATA controllers show up as Standard IDE controllers in device Manager and there is a proper Standard IDE controller.

Installing the SATA driver (manually) for all three controllers produced a BSOD, recovered nicely by Win 7's inbuilt recovery mode.

Installing the drivers on the controllers one by one (rebooting between each install) gave a yellow triangle with '!' (devide not working) on each controller tried...tried a max of two so one should have been a proper SATA controller at a minimum. System seemed to work okay, strangely enough. Gone back to standard IDE drivers for all controllers.

That is my experience so far. Happy to do any further testing or to supply any further system information that is requested.

Thanks Fernando1 for your efforts with these drivers and those you have provided in the past.

Cheers

@ drteeth:

Thank you very much for your feedback. You are one of the very few nForcersHQ members, who has taken the time for posting the test results I requested. :D
Your findings certify, that the nForce IDE drivers v11.1.0.23 do not work with all nForce4 chipsets, not even by modifying the original version.

Fernando

Fernando1:

I use a late 2008 unibody Macbook Pro which has the mcp79 sata controller running Leopard and Windows 7 RC . Like all windows setups on Intel Macs it installs a standard IDE controller because Apple's EFI BIOS emulation selects that as default during setup.

After having to a job to last week to change a Mac Pro's Vista config in boot camp of it's Intel SATA controller from IDE to AHCI using the information from this thread:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... ded&start=

I wondered if I could do something similar in the case of the MCP79 in my MBP to vastly improve the HD performance...

Instead of risking bricking my current setup which is used every day for work I'm going to start this when I get my key and iso for 7 RTM after August 6th from Technet for a fresh install. I'm thinking firstly to try possibly the easiest method and put your 7 drivers on a USB key, merging the inf entries for my MBP I can find with the IDE drivers into yours and forcing 7 to use the AHCI from the very start. Failing that I'll fall back to using the Mac Pro's method of patching the MBR.

If you could possibly give myself any tips or advice before I start this in a couple of weeks I'd be very grateful!

@ Gav Mack:
Welcome at nForcersHQ Forum!

Why do you think, that you need any drivers? Windows 7 has in-box nForce SATA AHCI drivers, which do fully support MCP79 mainboards.
I am sorry, but I cannot help you with this problem, because I have no experience at all with Macintosh systems.

Good luck!

O/S: Windows 7 RTM x86
M/B: GA-K8N Ultra-SLI
HDD: 2 x 320 GB Seagate SATA II
Mode: Mirror

Installed disabling the onboard Sil3114(bios: SATA RAID-5 Function) and all options associated with IDE RAID...Everything went smooth...

@ nsgf:

Welcome at nForcersHQ Forum and thank you for your report, which shows, that these nForce IDE drivers v11.1.0.23 are working with some nForce4 SLI RAID systems.
