5 years later--A7N8X Overlocking #s

Postby pyrozen » Wed Apr 22, 2009 11:54 pm

Well it's been a long time since the A7N8X model of motherboard has been released and i'm curious to see how many people are still using them and overclocking them. I've had 2 versions of this board, the A7N8X-E and the deluxe version, and both worked great. The caps blew on the older deluxe, but i had a spare A7N8X-E that i swapped it with.

Anyways, maybe give a short story of your board(or boards) and your experiences with them. Even thoug these things are ancient i still play tons of games on mine, and it holds up fairly well with todays tech.
Code: Select all
Mobo: A7N8X-E

BIOS: UBER Bios 1013 (sata 4.2.83)

Proc:  XP-M 2800+
         11.5x200 = 2.3Ghz @ 39C @ 1.7v (aircooled)

Memory:  CMX1024-3200C2 (x2)  @ 2.5v
             Frequency:  200Mhz
             CAS# Latency:  3
             RAS# to CAS#:  3
             RAS# Precharge:  3
             tRAS:  8

Video: ATI Radeon x1300

Audio: HTO Striker 7.1

A/V:  Hauppauge HD Tuner w/NTSC

OS: Windows XP (sp3) Home edition

I can go higher with the processor speed (up to around 2.5Ghz safely) but the temps make me squemish so i keep it at 2.3. Same goes for the memory timings, but i'm curious to see what you guys are running as well. I kinda consider this a farewell to this board since nothing new is being developed, and the only posts are troubleshooting at this point.

Please be as detailed as you can be in your description of your system and hardware.

A7N8X Deluxe

Barton 2500+ @ 3200+ (200Mhz x 11.0 @ stock voltage 1.65V?)
Ram 2-2-3-11

Hardware is so cheap these days but I still feel the need to stick by my trusty, albiet slow, setup.

6 years later and just upgraded from a 2500+ to a 3200+ ( I can afford one now) and changed the Video Card from the 5600 Ultra to a 7600GT. Also installed an SATA Hard drive and DVD burner and new copy of Windows 7! Its like having a new computer! One problem I posted in a thread my cpu socket temp readings are 260f since I upgraded my cooling fan and heatsink. Oh well who needs that information anyways.
