F@H stopped working

Postby redbeardeddevil » Mon Aug 04, 2008 3:56 am

I run the service client on all my PCs. I just noticed today that my main PCs client has quit working. That's both core have quit. Here is this snippet from from the log:

[02:06:43] Completed 1025000 out of 2500000 steps (41%)
[02:07:52]
[02:07:52] Folding@home Core Shutdown: INTERRUPTED
[02:07:55] CoreStatus = 66 (102)
[02:07:55] + Shutdown requested by user. Exiting.
Folding@Home Client Shutdown.

When I try to config or -configonly, svcstart, or anything the cmd window pops up for a half sceond and quits. I checked to see if the service was stopped in Admin tools > services and it has stopped. It's set to auto. We are getting ready for my daughter to be born in about 1 1/2 months so i am being run ragged by my wife lol. I just can't figure what's up. Probably something simple but I would appreciate any help y'all.

RBD, are you using the SMP beta client that expired on August 02? If so, you may need to download the new client here:

If you're not using the SMP, I'll defer to PA's expertise to address your problem. He should be around soon....

[Edit: actually, after re-reading your post, I'm guessing you're not using the SMP client. Sorry about that].

I'd try and uninstall and reinstall the client again, which should setup the service properly once you've configured it again (-configonly).

Sounds like it could be an expiry thing..?, in any case the new windows 6.20 service client is what you want to be using.

Thanks! I am trying it right now. I was trying to do the config, configonly but it would just flash the cmd window for a split sec but no go. And trying to start the service manually didn't work. Waiting for download right now; we just had our dsl modem restart like 20 times in the last hour, weird...
