Click on the "Projects" tab on the BOINC manager, click on the WCG project, then on the left, click the "My Grid" button.
That should take you to your settings page at WCG where you can set which projects you want to run they do have a cancer project running now.
You can set how often BOINC will contact the server, the longer you set the more WUs will be downloaded.
You can also return the results manually.

I have it set to cancer only. I set it to communicate all day everyday at WCG. I only appear to have 2 WUs visible in the BOINC manager in the tasks tab. Any way to get more?

So far I'm just playing with this on one PC.

Set it to report every 3 days and if you want it to report every day you can sent manually by going to the "Project" tab in the BOINC manager click WCG and then the "Update" button.

I think you can set it up to 10 days.

TLD - Are you talking about setting this somewhere in BOINC manager, or at the WCG website? I couldn't find anwhere in the manager to set it.

The UD/WCG agent seems to consume 260-270 MB of memory on my 2 Windows PC's.

And what about the BOINC client when doing cancer? Similar memory footprint or much smaller?

UD.exe 1,344 kB
ud_7174683.exe 2,396 kB
ud_ligfit_Release.exe 11,221 kB

With BOINC:

BOINC.exe - 3488K
wcg_faah_autodo - 55,000K

So, in between the two.

Edit: Oops, sorry, guess that's for FightAis@Home, before I defined my profile for cancer.

What does this message(in BOINC Manager) mean?
"11/23/2006 8:03:26 PM|World Community Grid|Message from server: No work is available for deprecated application"

Don't know they got cancer work i just got some are you using BOINC version 5.4.11 Try hitting update on the project tab to force communication.

I have seen them run out of cancer work before, they usually get more work in a day or so.

If you check the box for this in your device profile at my grid you will get a different project if they run out of cancer for a while.
"If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project (this option only applies to BOINC agents)."

Yeah, I checked Proteome Folding, too , but apparently with 512MB RAM, I don't have enough to run the job.

j3pflynn wrote:Hey pinky - any thought on the "WCG-BOINC username is invalid" in the sig? When I use the "Click to find your Project ID" link and enter my username, it returns a "nul". Do I have to wait until I have a validated WU result?

To be honest, I wasn't sure whether or not you need to wait for stats before you can find your project ID, but since you don't appear to be in the database yet (updated as of a few minutes ago), I guess you do need to wait. :)

Another note with the sigs....the BOINC stats (for all BOINC projects, including WCG) work slightly different then Grid in that I actually store *everyone's* stats locally, twice per day...which is nice in that you don't have to worry about whether the project is in the middle of a stats run or not when you attempt to add the project to your sig. The downside is, you need to wait for the database to update and include you the first time. (twice per day, by noon/midnight CST usually)
You should Fold :D
