Re: M2N32 SLI Sound issues

Hi people,

Thought I was the only person on the planet having trouble with my sound max. I bought a new machine 3 weeks ago with M2N-e mother board. after updating my drivers all is well. however, the one thing i cant record any audio. I use sound forge or jet audio to record radio stations, I'm also a DJ and use sound forge to record my mix's with PCDJ etc. the audio is coming through my speakers ok, yet nothing seems to come out of the stereo mix..

Any ideas would be much appreciated

thanx guys. :)

Many thanks CFF!

I spent the last 5 hours off/on trying to get freakin' sound to come out of my speakers. Unable to find the so-called hotfix kb888111 required before loading the driver. The ASUSholes tech support pawned the issue off as a windows update issue. BS! Many forums and useless searches later, I finally came upon this helpful board.

To elaborate on how to do this. I followed the ftp addy CFF listed, downloaded the file, unzipped it, and went into device manager to manually add the driver. It's a pain to find the driver buried within folders within folders. (click through 32 bit\2k_XP\SMAXWDM\W2K_XP)

Reboot before you test out your speakers or you'll get some weird volume fluctuations. Got some funky screeching when it rebooted, hopefully won't happen anymore, let you know if it does happen again. Retested, adjusted system volume and now playing mp3's again! Rawk on!

...follow up to the annoying buzz experienced during start up...it's still there! Disappears half way through the XP bootup, but is enough to blow your speakers and ear drums out if you don't turn the volume all the way down for start up.

Anyone have any suggestions?

As of now, I'm planning on buying a sound card and disabling the P.O.S. onboard sound. Score yet another point in favor of buying a Mac next time around.

Simply, like me, go for a Sound Blaster X-Fi card.

Is another thing.

Greetings.

i have the same issue...but theres a simple solution...

go to your soundmax menu and click preferences(the hammer)

and under DTS Connect
uncheck "Enable Subwoofer"

and your problems should be solved...

if u actually use a subwoofer you're S.O.L i suppose

since this will be my first and most likely last post...

See ya round guys,

CFF wrote:Hey guys,

I have the M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard and have had nothing but problems with the onboard HD audio. Basically if any sound played, the stupid windows loading sound even, then my system would lockup hard and instantly blue-screen. I tried every version of drivers I could find and nothing helped. Basically the onboard sound was totally and completly useless...until now!

I just updated to the latest motherboard bios that I came across today (version 0706). Upon getting into windows I thought I'd try the onboard audio again to see if it actually worked (...and wouldnt cause my system to blue-screen). I randomly chose this driver "1988b_32bit_510014560" that I found on Asus' FTP site, "ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/misc/audio/ad1988/", and sound is working completly fine now.

I am only using standard analog 2.1 speakers but its working so I am happy.

Just thought I'd share my experiences and what I have found to work.

I have nothing but issues with the on-board sound on this M2N32-SLI Deluxe I will install a Sound Blaster from Creative asap when I can afford one... then disable the onboard sound in the BIOS.

At the moment, I'm downloading the sound drivers from the above post. Hope it works. zomg the download link is giving me 15kbps speed LOL. I'm on a superfast fiber connection too.

One of the issues I have from the SoundMAX driver and program is that my 5.1 speakers do not all work using the set up wizard. When I play the test sound to each speaker it only plays to the center, right and left speaker. I have tried everything to get it to play to the rear left, rear right and sub. When I play games sound does work from the back speakers but its very low.
I will post if I fix the issue with this JUNK of a onboard sound device.

I just installed the drivers you posted... and found out that DTS is not available on this?

I have logitech Digital 5500 5.1 speakers. On my controller It'll normally display DTS DOLBY DIGITAL over my Optical audio connection. Now, It's just playing sound, no DTS or anything. my sound works on the new drivers but when testing speakers, only left right for the fronts work. Still having the same problem.

What on earth is going on here? I've tried everything for my m2n32 - sli deluxe.

I am running

AMD AM2+ 6400 blk edition
4gb memory patriot
500gb seagate sata
m2n32 sli deluxe mobo
8600gtx2 evga sli
550 antec true power.

Damn mate, I'm sorry your having that issue. Before I had the new SoundMAX drivers I could not get my rear speakers to come on when testing the sound using the soundmax program. After I installed the new program drivers, I Right Click the soundmax icon in the task bar and go to Preferences/Listening Environment/Test/Move threw Horizontal Circle
(play the techno music track) 5.1 Logitec sounds AMAZING!

I hope you get it worked out. I would recheck your cable hook up. I had a issue with that at first because on the motherboard sound onboard connections I did not have all 3 plugged in.

My System

M2N32-SLI Deluxe
Win XP SP2 limited updates ( just got that HD audio) Blackviper.com service tweeked.
Geforce 8800 GTS
2GB NewEgg LANfest RAM
AMD 3GHz
WD Raptor 150GB w/ see threw window lol
Zalman Heat Sink
850w BFG PSU
