Postby Jameel Halabi » Tue Aug 30, 2005 1:25 pm

I have GigaByte GA-K8NF-9 with nForce4 4x chipset,

I think one of you heard of the problem:

slow boot windows xp with event log:

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation

how to solve this problem??

Thanks

- make sure all cables are OK and properly connected
- test your HD with manifacturer's diagnostic software
- Uninstall nforce IDE driver

I don't know. Could be anything. Just go through the points I made.

Oh, by the way: Welcome to NFHQ! :)

I had the same problem. I fixed it by disabling command queing.

Go into the device manager and select properties for the nvidia sata controllers. Disable NCQ, i.e., command queuing for the sata channels!

I've never seen paging errors again after that.

Btw I'm using nforce 6.66 drivers.

Well disabling NCQ fixed my problems but it took several hours of googling and reading through numerous threads and a couple of reinstallations to find that out... :)

This is my first nforce setup and I've only had it a couple of days. I'm still having two major issues with this board. One is NCQ that I hope a new set of drivers might fix, the other one is that I get corrupt downloads if I'm offloading via active armor. If I set it to not offloadble then I don't get any corruptions but then what is the point of using a hw firewall...

You hit the jackpot! :P
AFAIK, these are the 2 biggest issues with nf4. Quite a few driver sets have been released to - allegedly - fix em but so far none driver set has achieved that for all...

Between, nice setup! :sweet:

nForce4 cannot support NCQ!?

Postby Silent Warrior » Thu Sep 15, 2005 10:12 pm

I had the same problem after install nForce IDE drivers (5.34/5.46) in ASUS A8N-SLI (rev 1.02 BIOS 1011) + HDD Maxtor 6B200S0 (firmware BANC1E00). The WinXP SP2 simply hangup during boot screen. After several attempts I also decided to disable the option "Enable command queing" and thus finally the system can come back to work well. :?
