The Average overclocked speed for a XP 2400+ is 2327 Mhz
This is according to http://www.cpudatabase.com/CPUdb/

The highest OC was 2824.... YMMV

Can someone please post a (clear) picture of where this mod is done@ on the mobo. The link to pics in the begining couple pages is no longer working. I read through page 6 or so & gave up, so if its here, just scold me point me along please!
I had no idea my little mobo had OCing potential... just was SEARCHing for some stuff about it & BAMM! Ran into this cool post. Great info here & I Hope I can do something with this soon!

i think it will be quiet easy to get a 500 mhz overclock.afterall i could get mine to 1900 mhz easily even when the cpu was running 65 C.try the multiplier method.the fsb method takes more risk.no doubt it is better as it overclocks your onboard video and everything else including ram.but all these are at stack if you fail.try increase the voltage to your cpu a bit.you can only increase multiplier and voltages on an a7n266-vm by connecting and cutting cpu bridges.be careful and have fun overclocking.one more warning keep and eye on your temp and be sure its your diode temp and not socket.learn from others mistakes :P

Thanks! Found it on Page 10.
Thrunner & Thrunner1 avatars are the pics & Thrunner has the synopsis of the mod. Found the jumpers easily (next to the AGP slot).
I will try this mod... eventually.

Great. Nice big pics at page bottom. Thanks!
When I do do this, I think I'll clip the wire from 1-2 & use connective paint from 2-3. This sounds the easiest... if I can cut the wire CAREFULLY.
Anybody try cutting it with a Dremmel?

Can any one suggest me a better hs for something under 15 bucks?

What is the max temp my 2400+ can safely take?

Should be good. I've read that most, if not all, go to 166, & some to 200 & beyond.

Almost anything Thermalright is good. I have an all copper SK-6BC that I rigged to use an 80mm fan. Its quiet & very cool... for $9 + fan especially. Bestbyte also has a SK-6+ for $11. Its about the same, but is 50g heavier. The SK-6+ is available at newegg($13+6s&h) & other good places online as well... I've found that Bestbyte.com just has a better/cheaper selection on fans & HeatSinks (Esp TRight), plus charge just $5 s&h total on most orders. (I like their selection on round IDE cables, too.)

Its not a good idea for someone to reccomend a 'safe' temp. The same model CPUs will vary. Same thing with Mobos & PSs. Plus different boards will register different temps for same CPU... Too many variables to make a suggestion. Just take your time & be cautious with your OCing.

Hope this helps.

Hi All,
I ve been a silent observer 8-O of this thread for a looong time and yes I 'belong' very much to the A7N266VM(fsb mod) community. :D
However over the full 14 pages of the whole discussion no one has yet mentioned clearly whether the multiplier settings which 'lOOk' as though available can really be changed through BIOS at all :?: (actually try changing and they dont really change).
I would like to add :" what I am talking of is whether NE 1 has tried the short L3 bridge link trick" :?:
My case in particular is AIUG'A' DLT3C so its a Tb-A and if I short the last link on L3 bridge, cann't I change multi through BIOS as many discussions that I've come across on the web say??....I'll hav 2 find out if no 1 here already has
Hey Vidyashankar have U permanently changed UR multi by 'setting' the L3 bridge to a desired config or U managed to pull off the trick I am talking about and got it working from BIOS??
