Hi,
So I have the following:
Phenom II x4 965
Asus M3N-HT Deluxe
Kingston 2x2GB DDR2 1066Hz
MSI GTX 580
Thermaltake 875W
I just bought an Intel 320 120GB. It is SATA II and so is my motherboard. But my motherboard is a nforce, which is supposedly awful for most things including SSDs. It is still in the mail but similar nforce systems have middling performance.
Should I get this SATA 3 (more like 2.5ish) card: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B002VEWBGO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB ?
Or a BNIB Revodrive x2 100GB for $175? Will my motherboard support it? I have at least one open 8x PCI-E 2.0 slot. Two maybe.
It seems to have OK reviews and a higher mbps ceiling than I need. I am worried mostly about the 4K random read and that my nforce may have awful performance for that, even with Microsoft's standard ACHI drivers. I am also not sure what complications the revodrive will have with the nforce chip and its own raid.
Should I get the controller card or the revodrive or a AMD motherboard or a new i5 2500k combo? Or just keep my system as it is with the Intel SSD because real world difference will be minimal?
Thanks!
