Nvidia will not support Vista Drivers for Nforce 2 Motherboards.
In a request to Nvidia yesterday for drivers for the Nforce 2 chipset they said and I quote
"Thank you for contacting NVIDIA Customer Care.
With reference to your query with respect to MS-Windows Vista drivers for nForce2 chipset based motherboard, we would like to make the following suggestions.
We are sorry to inform that the nForce2 chipset has been discontinued as of date, since the the product has reached the end of life stage. This is the reason we are unable to provide drivers with respect to MS-Windows Vista operating system.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
Regards,
NVIDIA Customer Care"
So there you have it in a nutshell
I suguest all Nforce2 chipset owners who would like Vista drivers to send a email and complain...
I have started a thread about this on on Microsoft longhorn.beta news groups for opinons there as this well my mobo the An7 more than qualifies for Vista simply to toss it to one side would be a crime.. and to buy a new mobo at this time is a no no skint not a farthin (UK humour)...
All thats needed is drivers for soundstorm mcp-t and ethernet drivers |

There's got to be at least some hacked driver out there for Vista. I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe (nForce 2) motherboard and Vista (RTM) does not recognize the SATA controller. I have scoured the universe and cannot find a x86 Sil3112 Vista SATA driver anywhere. If someone can find it please post the link, even if it's beta.
Thanks in advance! |

If the MS upgrade advisor says it is compatible then there should be drivers for it, I know of lots of nforce 2's still in service. It wouldn't kill them to write a driver for Vista. Although I believe there will be some bright individual that will do a remix so we'll probably be ok but an official would be nice.

| I'm just about to upgrade my system to something with a core duo chip and won't even look at nvidia for eaither mobo or graphics card due to thier attitude of tough if you have older stuff. I have a gforce2GTS still in my wifes machine and they removed it from the drivers a while back but still have the SLOWER GF4MX in thier drivers. |

Ethernet is working already isnt it ?
Vista seemed to install the driver for it when I installed RC2 on my abit nf7s.
Really its all about the Soundstorm support for me, it was the reason I chose an NF2 board over a Via board and the thought of loosing that feature is enough to make me want to skip on Vista..... |

The beta2 drivers didn't work on my A7N8X-E Deluxe.
Where others did report those drivers worked fine on the non-raid boards.
So if there's no solution for this I'll scratch nVidia from my list for a future upgrade. |
